Reconval® B6 is the first cream developed for the topical application of vitamin B6 with other substances, thus providing local treatment and moisturising benefits. Medical device.
Some targeted and classic cytostatic drugs for the treatment of various cancers and chronic myeloid leukaemia cause skin changes, particularly on the hands and feet, and are therefore called hand-foot syndrome (plamar-plantar erythrodysesthesia). In these areas, the skin reddens painfully, burns, sometimes blisters and cracks appear or frequently flakes off.
The inflamed hands and feet cause problems when walking (stepping) and grasping objects, which often impairs the quality of life and sometimes forces the doctor to reduce the dose or change the therapy. The painful skin side effects usually only become apparent after 7-10 days and are very widespread after a month. Prophylactic treatment on the first day of cancer therapy prevents the development of skin side effects and thus reduces inflammation.
Skin that is exposed to various forms of stress cannot adequately fulfil its role of protecting the body. With correct and regular care, the skin can restore and maintain its physiological and protective functions. Reconval B6 Cream is a boon for the skin. It helps to restore the hydrolipidic film, improve the skin's defences (thanks to the ingredients cholesterol and olive oil, which are very similar to skin lipids) and maintain a physiological pH. The formula is enriched with substances that support the moisturising and soothing effect of the product (urea, allantoin, vitamin B6).
Reconval B6 for cancer therapy
Prophylactic use of Reconval B6 reduces the occurrence of hand-foot syndrome and reddening of the skin during chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. Existing skin changes are alleviated.
- Supports you and your doctor to achieve the best possible outcome of your cancer therapy
- Avoidance of severe, dose-limiting skin changes
- Improve quality of life during chemotherapy and radiotherapy
The hand-foot syndrome
- Some cancer therapies cause hand-foot syndrome (plamar-plantar erythrodysesthesia), which occurs on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.
- Hand-foot syndrome typically manifests as painful redness, swelling and peeling of the skin on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. Blisters and/or deep skin tears often form.
- Hand-foot syndrome interferes with walking, gripping and holding objects, which often leads to a significant impairment of your quality of life and sometimes forces your oncologist to change the dose or treatment regimen.
- Thorough and daily skin care is very important in avoiding these side effects. Instead of waiting until the skin problems occur, please start the prophylactic application at the beginning of the cancer therapy. This can reduce the occurrence and severity of skin changes.
- Reconval contains vitamin B6 together with several other substances that keep the skin's moisture content optimal and minimise or even prevent skin changes in hand-foot syndrome.
