Raab Organic Psyllium Husk Capsules contain pure, finely ground psyllium husk powder from certified organic cultivation in India. The psyllium husks come from small, traditional farms in the regions of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, where they are cultivated under the best conditions. After being harvested by hand during the Indian dry season, the plants are first dried; the psyllium husks are then carefully separated from the other plant parts and finely ground. The fine grinding further enhances the swelling capacity of the psyllium husks, thus ensuring a high-quality product. The psyllium husk powder is then filled into capsules at our in-house production facility in Germany.

What are psyllium husks? 

Psyllium husks come from the Plantago ovata plant, which has been cultivated in India for centuries and belongs to the plantain family. The name ‘psyllium’ derives from the shape of the small, shiny brown seeds, which resemble tiny fleas. This reference is also found in the botanical name: ‘psýllos’ means ‘flea’ in Greek. 

The difference between psyllium seeds and psyllium husks 

Psyllium husks are the outer shells of psyllium seeds and have a particularly high swelling capacity. Whilst the hard seeds themselves have a swelling index of 9, ground psyllium husks can bind 40 to 45 times their weight in water. This ability makes psyllium husks an excellent source of plant-based fibre.

Directions for use

• Take 8 capsules daily, either all at once or spread throughout the day. Ensure you drink plenty of water. Drink at least 500 ml after taking the capsules, or 2 litres a day.
• Notes: Not suitable for children and adolescents. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet. Keep out of the reach of young children.
