Pro Zoon EFA ZOON OMEGA-3 OIL for dogs and cats is a dietary supplement in a practical pump dispenser to support skin function in dermatoses and excessive hair loss in dogs and cats and to support joint metabolism in osteoarthritis in dogs.

EFA ZOON is a dietary supplement to support joint and skin function in dermatoses in dogs and cats. EFA ZOON contains a high-quality omega-3/omega-6 oil combination with vitamin E and is characterised by its particularly high content of the highly unsaturated fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid 8.3 %) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid 5.5 %). 1 pump (~ 1.7ml) of EFA ZOON contains at least 140 mg EPA and at least 94 mg DHA. The two highly unsaturated fatty acids EPA and DHA are among the most important fatty acids in the diet for healthy skin and joints and a shiny coat, as they can only be synthesised slowly and to a limited extent in the body. Particularly in the case of pathological skin changes or (age-related) joint problems, attention must therefore be paid to a sufficiently high intake of these fatty acids in the diet.

The dietary supplementation of EFA ZOON supports skin function in dermatoses: The polyunsaturated fatty acid EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) is a natural antagonist of arachidonic acid in the skin metabolism, whose metabolic end products can cause dermatoses. If a deficiency develops, this can lead to skin dysfunctions. An increased intake of the highly unsaturated fatty acid EPA provides dietary support for dermatoses in order to inhibit excessively harmful substances in the skin metabolism.

EFA ZOON supports the skin metabolism in the case of

  • Dandruff
  • Dry skin with itching
  • Dull coat
  • Skin changes and susceptibility of the skin
In order to regain healthy skin and a shiny coat, a sufficient supply of the highly unsaturated fatty acid EPA is essential: The food with the highest EPA content is high-quality oil from cold-water fish, as contained in EFA ZOON. Vegetable oils, on the other hand, contain almost no EPA and even cod liver oil or ordinary fish oil contains comparatively little EPA and is not listed separately. By adding EFA ZOON to your pet's diet, it will receive sufficient amounts of the important fatty acid EPA.

Further dietary applications of omega-3 fatty acids:

  • EFA ZOON also contains DHA (docosahexaenoic acid - 94 mg / per pump) which is important for healthy pre- and postnatal development. Premature babies and hand-reared animals are often deficient in omega-3 fatty acids, especially docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which is important for healthy brain and eye development. Before birth, the foetus is supplied with this fatty acid through the mother's blood, afterwards through the mother's milk. Premature birth results in a DHA deficiency. This can result in impaired vision and be associated with growth retardation. Young animals and lactating dams therefore need a secure supply of highly unsaturated fatty acids of the omega-3 family, especially the fatty acid DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), for which EFA ZOON is particularly suitable.
To support the joints:

The highly unsaturated fatty acid EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) is not only an important nutritional factor in skin metabolism, but also has a positive effect on restricted joint mobility. By supplementing with EFA ZOON, the required EPA content of the diet can be optimised, which leads to beneficial relief. EFA ZOON supports the joint metabolism in the case of

  • Age-related joint problems
  • Growing dogs of large breeds
  • High stress on the joints (e.g. sport)
The health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids for blood flow:

  • The regular feeding of highly unsaturated fatty acids of the omega-3 family, such as EPA, in curative periods helps to maintain symptom-free blood circulation, thereby relieving the cardiovascular system. Extensive studies have confirmed that arteriosclerosis is almost unknown among Eskimos in Greenland, although the diet of these population groups is also high in calories and a lot of cholesterol-rich fat is also consumed. The reason, as has been shown, lies in the regular and extensive consumption of fish from cold-water zones with a particularly high content of EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and other fatty acids from the omega-3 fatty acid family.

Directions for use
Mix EFA ZOON into the feed (ideally in moist feed) and it is readily absorbed. 1 pump (~ 1.7ml) of EFA ZOON contains at least 140 mg EPA.

Feeding recommendation:

  • Cats: 2 pumps once a day.
  • Small dogs: 3 pumps once a day.
  • Medium dogs: 4 pumps 2 x daily.
  • Large dogs: 6 pumps 2 x daily.
