Organic* Lavandin has a fresh, herbaceous, light and clear scent; its fragrance profile is balancing, refreshing and purifying.
The organic* Lavandin essential oil (bot. Lavandula x intermedia) has a fresh, herbaceous, light and clear scent and is a heart note. Its aromatic profile is balancing, refreshing and purifying. It is obtained by steam distillation from the herb part of the plant. We source the essential oil from our long-standing organic farming partner in Piedmont (Italy), who practises certified organic farming.
The semi-shrub is a hybrid of ‘true’ lavender (bot. Lavandula angustifolia) and spike lavender (bot. Lavandula latifolia). In terms of its chemical composition, its essential oil differs from the milder ‘fine lavender’ in that it contains more camphor and the compound 1,8-cineole.
In summer, its fresh scent transforms a floral water into a fragrant body spray that is unpopular with pests. Its clarifying properties also make it a tried-and-tested companion during the colder months. Its cleansing effect makes it ideal for adding to personal care products, such as hand soaps. Traditionally, lavandin oil has also been popular for centuries as a fragrance in soaps, as well as cleaning and laundry detergents.
