Gentle cleansing for sensitive children’s scalps

Babies’ and children’s scalps are particularly delicate and sensitive. Frequent washing or unsuitable shampoos can easily dry them out and lead to irritation or itching. Scalp Care Extra Mild Shampoo has been specially developed to meet the needs of sensitive, dry scalps prone to itching. It gently cleanses the hair and scalp without causing irritation, whilst also reducing any existing irritation. Thanks to its mild formulation, it protects the scalp from drying out and is also ideal for washing hair several times a day. It also leaves the scalp feeling pleasant. The shampoo contains no fragrances or colourants and is therefore particularly well tolerated – even on very sensitive or irritated scalps.

Key ingredients for the care of very sensitive and irritated scalps

• Glycerine is one of the skin’s natural moisturising factors (NMF). It can attract and bind water, thereby regulating, amongst other things, the ‘viscosity’ of the extracellular matrix between skin cells. This is particularly important for a healthy skin barrier. Skincare products containing glycerine provide the skin with additional moisture and help to regenerate the skin’s own protective barrier.
• Glycols such as propylene and pentylene glycol can improve the skin’s moisture content; they are suitable as solvents in products for sensitive skin, can extend shelf life and ensure that other ingredients penetrate deeper into the skin and work more effectively there.
• Squalene is produced by the sebaceous glands and is a component of the skin’s own lipid film, which maintains skin moisture and performs an important barrier function. As squalene itself does not have a long shelf life, it is replaced in skincare products by its hydrogenated/stabilised form, squalane. In cosmetics, it acts as a humectant, soothes the skin and leaves the skin (and scalp) soft and supple.
