Understanding the causes of dandruff:

• Dry dandruff is caused by a dehydrated scalp – often due to harsh shampoos, blow-drying with a hot hairdryer or dry air from heating systems.
• Oily dandruff is caused by excessive sebum production, which promotes the growth of the yeast Malassezia furfur.

PHYSIOGEL® Scalp Care Anti-Dandruff Shampoo has been specially developed for itchy, sensitive scalps – effective against both dry and oily dandruff.

The anti-dandruff complex with salicylic acid and piroctone olamine:

Active ingredients

• Salicylic acid is a fat-soluble beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) which is highly effective in skincare due to its keratolytic (skin-exfoliating) action. It breaks down the bonds between dead skin cells, gently loosening dandruff. At the same time, it regulates sebum production, helping to reduce excess sebum. On the scalp, salicylic acid ensures that dandruff is gently and effectively loosened and can then be rinsed away during washing.
• Piroctone olamine is a tried-and-tested anti-dandruff ingredient that was developed as far back as the 1970s. It inhibits the growth of Malassezia yeasts, which, although naturally present on the scalp, can lead to dandruff or exacerbate dandruff if they multiply excessively. It also has antibacterial and sebum-regulating properties. Piroctone Olamine thus tackles the cause of dandruff, reduces existing dandruff and, at the same time, prevents new dandruff from forming.
• Polidocanol is used as a local anaesthetic. It soothes irritated nerve endings in the skin, thereby providing noticeable relief from the often unpleasant itching. In addition to its soothing effect, polidocanol also has nourishing properties. Polidocanol has been extensively researched, is very gentle on the skin and has been used successfully in skincare for many years.

Directions for use

• Apply to damp hair, massage in and rinse thoroughly. Repeat the application at least every other day for 4 weeks, then once a week in combination with a mild shampoo, such as PHYSIOGEL® Scalp Care Extra Mild Shampoo.
• Tip: If you have an itchy scalp, try using our Scalp Care Tonic in the evening. It reduces itching and helps to reduce dandruff
