The specially selected ingredients moisturise, help restore the skin’s natural oils and leave the skin feeling pleasantly soft – ideal for the needs of babies’ and children’s skin. Key ingredients that strengthen the natural skin barrier

• Ceramides are an important component of our skin barrier – more specifically, the lipid layer, which forms part of the skin barrier. The lipid layer seals the keratinocytes in the outermost layer of the skin, thereby preventing moisture loss. Skin-compatible ceramides in our skincare products integrate perfectly into this natural skin barrier, helping it to regenerate and thus protecting the skin from moisture loss.
• Glycols are related to the alcohol we drink, but differ in their chemical structure. The use of pentylene glycol in cosmetics increases skin moisture as it binds water. It also extends the shelf life of cosmetics and acts as a solvent to ensure the cream has a pleasant consistency.
• Glycerine is a sugar alcohol and occurs naturally in the body and skin as a natural moisturising factor (NMF). As an NMF, glycerine is therefore an important part of our skin barrier. When added to cosmetics, it binds moisture from the environment and thus hydrates the skin. It also helps to reduce the evaporation of the skin’s own moisture and promotes skin elasticity. It is sometimes claimed that glycerine has a negative, drying effect; however, this is only the case at very high concentrations and when no lipids or other NMFs are added.
