- Of course, life doesn't leave your skin untouched. It is exposed to countless, sometimes harmful stimuli every day. It reacts to stress, hormonal changes, an unhealthy diet and ages just like the rest of the body. Over time, the protective function of the natural skin barrier, which is made up of various lipids (fats), can weaken. If gaps occur here, the skin is less able to store important moisture and is less able to ward off external influences.
- Suitable care can support normal to dry skin. PHYSIOGEL® Daily Moisture Therapy Cream moisturises every day and reduces feelings of tightness. An active complex of skin-related lipids (fats) regenerates and strengthens the natural skin barrier and protects against recurring dryness.
- Ceramides are an important component of our skin barrier, more specifically the lipid layer, which forms part of the skin barrier. The lipid layer seals the horny cells (corneocytes) of the uppermost skin layer and thus prevents fluid loss. Skin-related ceramides in our skincare products are optimally integrated into this natural skin barrier, help it to regenerate and can thus protect the skin from moisture loss.
- Glycerin is a sugar alcohol and occurs as a natural moisturising factor (NMF) in the body and the skin. As an NMF, glycerine is therefore an important part of our skin barrier. When added to cosmetics, it binds moisture from the environment and thus moisturises the skin. It also ensures that the skin's own moisture evaporates less and promotes skin elasticity. It is sometimes claimed that glycerine has a negative and drying effect, but only in very high concentrations and if no lipids or other NMFs are added - this is of course not the case with us.
- Glycols are related to the alcohol we drink, but differ in their chemical structure. The use of pentylene glycol in cosmetics leads to an increase in skin moisture as it binds water. It also makes cosmetics last longer and acts as a solvent for a nice cream consistency.
