What is Curcumin Pharma Nord?
- Curcumin Pharma Nord® is a dietary supplement with high bioavailability that contributes to the maintenance of flexible joints.
- The plant-based capsules each contain 400 mg of curcuma root extract (Longvida®), including 100 mg of active curcuminoids in an optimal bioavailable formulation. Curcumin Pharma Nord is manufactured in such a way that each curcumin particle is surrounded by an oily membrane, ensuring high bioavailability and an active preparation.
- Although Curcumin Pharma Nord is predominantly fat soluble, it can be taken between meals and as the preparation contains no animal ingredients, it is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
What are curcuminoids and what is curcumin?
- Curcuminoids are a group of active substances in the curcuma root. Curcuminoids belong to the group of polyphenolic colouring agents, which also includes the substance curcumin.
- Curcumin, with its characteristic orange colour, also belongs to the group of polyphenolic substances. In nature, these substances are produced by plants and microorganisms. Herbs produce these plant substances to protect themselves from pest infestation, UV radiation and wounds.
- Curcumin also contains plant substances such as saponins, phytosterols, alkaloids, tannins and starch. At the same time, some of these plant substances are considered an important part of a healthy and varied diet.
- Curcuma is probably best known as an essential ingredient in curry powder, where it contributes to the yellowish colour of the curry.
- The curcuma plant originates from India and South Asia. The plant is related to ginger and cardamom. It has lanceolate leaves and cream-coloured flowers. It can grow to over 1 metre high. Curcuma root contains 2-5 % curcumin, depending on where it grows.
