Product information "PRIMA® Vitamin D Home Test"

Beipackzettel ansehen

The PRIMA® Vitamin D test is a rapid self-test for the semi-quantitative determination of vitamin D in human whole blood. Result after 10 minutes.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D belongs to a group of fat-soluble secosteroids that are responsible for increasing the absorption of calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphate and zinc via the intestine. Blood levels of vitamin D (including D2 and D3) are considered to be the best indicator of vitamin D status. Vitamin D deficiency is now recognised as a global epidemic. The health risks associated with vitamin D deficiency are far more serious than previously thought. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to various serious diseases: osteoporosis, osteomalacia, multiple sclerosis, cardiovascular diseases, pregnancy complications, diabetes, depression, strokes, autoimmune diseases, influenza, various cancers, infectious diseases, Alzheimer's disease, obesity and increased mortality, etc. Therefore, determining vitamin D levels is now considered a "medically necessary screening test" and maintaining adequate levels improves not only bone health, but overall health and well-being.

Principle of the test

The VITAMIN D TEST is an immunoassay based on the principle of competitive binding. During the test, the mixture migrates chromatographically upwards on the membrane by capillary action. The membrane is pre-coated with 25(OH)D antigens in the test line area of the strip.

Technical data

VITAMIN D TEST is an immunoassay based on the principle of competitive protein binding and can detect an excess, sufficient, insufficient or deficiency of vitamin D in the blood.

  • Measuring range 10-100 ng/ml
  • Accuracy 94.4%

Dosage form
Self-test kit consisting of 1 test cassette, 1 dropper bottle with the diluent, 2 sterile lancets, 1 pipette for blood collection, 1 antiseptic cleaning gauze, 1 comparison card, instructions for use.

How to use
  1. Take a blood sample with the sterile lancet provided;
  2. Collect the sample marked by the black line using the capillary pipette provided;
  3. Place the collected sample in the well (S) indicated on the cassette;
  4. Add 2 drops of diluent and wait 10 minutes to read the result by comparing the lines obtained with the card provided.
Interpretation of the results:

  • Excessive (> 100 ng/mL): no obvious lines appear in the test line (T) area. It is necessary to consult your doctor.
  • Sufficient (30-100 ng/mL): The intensity of the test line (T) is equal to or less than the 30 ng/mL indicated on the "Vitamin D colour card".
  • Insufficient (30-10 ng/mL): The intensity of the test line (T) is darker than the 30 ng/mL line and lighter than the 10 ng/mL line on the "Vitamin D colour card".
  • Deficiency (0-10 ng/mL): The intensity of the test line (T) is equal to or darker than the 10 ng/mL line on the "Vitamin D colour card". It is necessary to consult your doctor
