Otrivin® 0.05 % nasal spray without preservatives is used for various types of rhinitis in children aged 2 to 12 years, under adult supervision. Acts quickly and for up to 12 hours.

Otrivin contains the active ingredient xylometazoline hydrochloride. It quickly relieves nasal congestion and facilitates the drainage of secretions, allowing the nose to breathe freely. Otrivin is used to treat nasal congestion caused by colds, hay fever, allergic rhinitis or sinusitis.

The effect of Otrivin starts within 2 minutes and lasts for up to 12 hours. When used in the nose, Otrivin also helps to reduce swelling of the mucous membranes in the nasopharynx in cases of middle ear infections. It can also be prescribed to facilitate rhinoscopy (examination of the inside of the nose) by your doctor.

Using Otrivin without preservatives can reduce the risk of allergies and intolerances due to certain preservatives (e.g. benzalkonium chloride) in patients who are sensitive to them.

How to use

• Children from 2 to 12 years: 1 spray into each nostril once, but no more than 3 times a day. Last application in the evening, generally shortly before going to bed. In general, an interval of at least 8 hours should be maintained between two applications. Use in children aged 2 - 6 years only on the express recommendation of a doctor.
• Children under 2 years of age: see also "Otrivin 0.05 % - nasal spray without preservative must not be used" In children, use must be supervised by parents or adults.
• Duration of use: Otrivin 0.05 % - nasal spray without preservatives must not be used for longer than 7 days unless prescribed by a doctor. After 1 week of treatment, a break of several days must be taken.
• Method of application: For nasal application. Clean the nose thoroughly before use (blow your nose). Remove the protective cap. Do not cut off the tip. The dosing spray is ready to use. Before the first application, the pump must be filled by pumping 4 times. Once filled, the pump generally remains ready for use with regular daily use. If the spray does not spray completely during the entire spraying process, or if the medicine has not been used for more than 7 days, the pump must be refilled with 2 pumping processes as at the beginning. Caution: Do not spray into the eyes or mouth. Hold the bottle upright between two fingers. Insert the spray opening into a nostril and pump (pull back the spray attachment before releasing the pressure). Inhale gently through the nose during the spraying process. Replace the protective cap. For reasons of hygiene and to avoid infection, please note that each dosing spray may only be used by one person at a time.

• The active ingredient is: xylometazoline hydrochloride. 1 ml solution contains0.5 mg xylometazoline hydrochloride .
• The other ingredients are Sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate,sodium monohydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium chloride, sodium edetate dihydrate, purifiedwater. 1 spray = 0.07 ml solution.
