Product information "OsteoCalVitFort® swallowing tablets"
OsteoCalVitFort® oral tablets are a dietary food for special medical purposes and for the dietary treatment of osteoporosis (bone atrophy) and bone mineralisation disorders.
Osteoporosis or bone atrophy is a disease in which bone mass is so severely reduced that even stumbling and falling can lead to bone fractures. Vitamin D promotes the absorption of calcium into the body and enables it to be incorporated into the bones. The supply of vitamin D, which is formed in the skin through exposure to sunlight, is greatly reduced, especially in the winter months when there is little light. The OsteoCalVitFort® swallowable tablet is optimally adapted to the special requirements of calcium deficiency in osteoporosis.
Properties
- For the targeted treatment of osteoporosis
- Particularly well tolerated
- Vitamin D promotes the absorption of calcium
Bones = stability
Bones are essential for our lives. They enable us to walk upright and protect vital organs and our brain. However, from the age of 35, bone density begins to decrease again.
Calcium and vitamin D3 are important components of bones. Calcium is an important supporting factor for bone strength. Vitamin D3 ensures improved absorption and incorporation of calcium in the bones. Osteoporosis - an important topic
Osteoporosis is also commonly referred to as bone loss. It is a disease of the bone skeleton that occurs with increasing age in both women and men. Familial predisposition, menstrual disorders and early onset of the menopause in women, but also increased consumption of coffee, cigarettes and alcohol can be risk factors. The reduction in bone mass and quality leads to bone fractures - particularly in the vertebral body and femoral neck bones.
In Austria, around 750,000 people suffer from this widespread disease, and the trend is rising!
What's the story with calcium and vitamin D?
Calcium:
- The human body cannot produce the natural mineral calcium on its own. That's why we have to get it from our food every day. Around 99% of the calcium in the body is found in the bones and ensures their stability. The bone also serves as a store for calcium. Calcium also plays an important role in muscle, nerve and blood cells. Calcium is mainly found in milk and dairy products, meat and fish, as well as in fruit and vegetables.
Vitamin D3:
- In recent years, knowledge about the importance of vitamin D, more precisely vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), has grown. It is not only important for the bones because it supports the absorption of calcium from food and its incorporation into the bones, but also because it improves the co-operation of nerves and muscles and thus protects against falls. If there is not enough vitamin D3 available, rickets* can develop in children and osteomalacia** or osteoporosis in adults. Rich in vitamin D3 are: Egg yolk, avocado, cow's milk, liver, sesame oil, herring, salmon, sardines, tuna and fish and fish liver oil.
*Rickets: A disorder of the growing bone with impaired mineralisation and disorganisation of the growth plates, caused by an undersupply of calcium in the diet or a vitamin D metabolic disorder. **Osteomalacia: A painful softening of the bones in adults, usually caused by a vitamin D deficiency.
