Novalac PRE, 400 G

Novalac PRE is a food intended for the special nutritional needs of newborns from birth up to 6 months of age. Unlike infant formulae labelled ‘1’, Novalac PRE contains lactose as its sole carbohydrate. This makes this infant formula the most similar to breast milk and it can be given to the baby as required (ad libitum) or used as a supplementary feed.

Novalac PRE, whose composition provides the baby with all the necessary nutrients for healthy development and growth during the first stage of life, also contains:

• galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS)
• Nucleotides
• LCP (omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids)

GOS have been shown to help strengthen the baby’s immune system; LCP, or omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, influence the development of the brain and visual functions; and nucleotides also have a positive effect on the developing immune system.

Novalac PRE meets all the nutritional requirements of babies up to 6 months of age, as it contains all the proteins, fats, carbohydrates, amino acids, vitamins and minerals a baby needs. Once the infant reaches 6 months of age, we recommend switching to Novalac 2 infant formula.

Special notes

Breastfeeding is the best form of nutrition for your baby. If you wish to use infant formula, please speak to your paediatrician. Particular care is required in cases of cow’s milk protein allergy, premature birth, or in newborns with low birth weight or a weakened immune system.

Directions for use

One level measuring spoon (supplied) contains 4.3 g of Novalac PRE. Dissolve one measuring spoon in 30 ml of water.

Preparation of Novalac

1. WASH YOUR HANDS THOROUGHLY BEFORE PREPARATION.
2. Clean the bottle and teat and sterilise them in boiling water for 5 minutes.
3. Boil fresh tap water for 5 minutes.
4. Allow the water to cool to 40 °C and pour it into the bottle.
5. Add the required number of measuring spoons.
6. Close the baby bottle with the plastic lid and shake until the powder has completely dissolved in the water.
7. Check the temperature (37 °C) on the inside of your wrist.
