The non-sterile cotton swab is used to apply liquids and for cleaning. If the cotton swabs are to be used for wound treatment, they must be sterilised using a validated procedure before use.
The cotton swab (cotton head: 4-5 mm) is used for applying liquids and ointments, for cleaning and for taking swab samples. If it is to be used on open wounds, it must be sterilised before use using a validated procedure (moist heat according to DIN EN ISO 17665, radiation according to DIN EN ISO 11137 or ethylene oxide according to DIN EN ISO 11135). The cotton swab has a 15 cm long cotton carrier.
