For dry mucous membranes and nasal congestion: Nisita® Dosing Spray moisturises the nose with a fine spray mist and supports the natural cleansing function. As a result, dirt particles and irritants can be removed more effectively. Nisita® Dosing Spray is also suitable for eliminating existing dependency on decongestant cold sprays.

Mucous membrane of the airways

The respiratory tract is lined with mucous membrane, which ensures the full functionality of the respiratory organs. Glandular cells and so-called cilia are embedded in the mucous membrane of the upper airways. The glandular cells produce a fluid (secretion) that moistens the inhaled air (approx. 10,000 litres daily) and at the same time absorbs dust, dirt, pathogens, etc. The activity of the cilia, which are in constant motion, transports the ingested foreign bodies to the outside or - via the throat - to the stomach as if on a conveyor belt. If the mucous membranes dry out, their natural function is no longer guaranteed. This facilitates the penetration of pathogens and impairs the sense of smell and taste. It can also lead to irritation of the mucous membrane.

Our nose - function and task

The nose has many functions that serve to prevent respiratory diseases. Through the nose, the air we breathe is brought almost to body temperature, i.e. cold air is warmed in winter and very hot air is cooled in summer. In addition, the air we breathe is moistened and filtered in the nose so that dirt particles are removed and only clean air reaches the lungs. For this reason, breathing should always take place through the nose and not through the mouth. However, this is not possible if the function of the nose is impaired and the nasal mucosa is too dry.

Dry nose is a common problem. It not only affects all age groups, but also occurs all year round. The crusts and bumps that form in the nose when it is dry are not only annoying, they can also be very painful in some cases. The risk of infection is increased and breathing, sense of smell and taste are also impaired. This leads to a significant reduction in quality of life.

Dry mucous membranes can have a number of causes:

  • Side effects of certain medications
  • Certain diseases, such as diabetes or rheumatic diseases, also often lead to dry mucous membranes
  • Heated and air-conditioned rooms
  • Dust or other irritants
  • Sometimes dry mucous membranes are simply age-related.
Recommendations and treatment options

The healing effect of salt (sodium chloride) has been utilised by humans for centuries. For example, spending time in salty sea air or in health resorts where salty spring water is evaporated via wooden vats (graduation towers) alleviates the symptoms of respiratory diseases. The salts contained in the spray create a moist environment in the nasal cavity due to their water-attracting effect.

Nisita® Dosing Spray can therefore be used extensively:

For prevention

  • Protects the nasal mucosa from drying out in dry air
  • Prevents irritants from coming into contact with the nasal mucosa
For treatment

  • Moisturises the nasal mucosa
  • Dissolves bark and crusts
  • For the supportive treatment of rhinitis in babies and children
  • Improves nasal breathing and can therefore lead to a reduction in snoring
For aftercare

  • Supports the regeneration of damaged nasal mucosa in the event of a cold, nosebleeds and after operations.
  • Nisita® nasal ointment is also available for dry nasal mucous membranes.
