The Mölnlycke Mextra® Superabsorbent offers excellent fluid management for heavily exuding wounds. It binds wound fluid securely in the core and thus protects the wound edge from maceration.
Mextra® Superabsorbent absorbs fluids quickly. This high absorption and retention capacity for fluids minimises the risk of maceration. Mextra® can be used for moderately to heavily exuding wounds, e.g. chronic wounds such as leg ulcers, venous leg ulcers under pressure dressings and chronic wounds such as pressure ulcers.
Mextra® can be used together with primary dressings such as Mepitel®, Mepitel® One, Fibre Dressing or Melgisorb® Plus.
Mextra® has a water-repellent and breathable top layer that protects against soaking. The top layer prevents liquid from leaking out and protects clothing and bed linen from soiling.
Mextra® Superabsorbent is a superabsorbent dressing with a liquid-repellent top layer, a middle layer of superabsorbent particles and a non-woven wound contact layer. Mextra Superabsorbent absorbs the wound exudate via the wound contact layer, retains the fluid in its core and thus reduces the risk of maceration. The fluid-repellent cover fleece acts as a barrier and prevents exudate from seeping through.
Mextra Superabsorbent consists of:
- A non-woven wound contact layer
- An absorbent pad layer made of superabsorbent particles
- A breathable cover fleece
Application/indication
- Mextra® Superabsorbent is suitable for the treatment of moderately to heavily exuding wounds.
