Protect sensitive skin with Mepilex® Lite. This thin, sterile foam dressing fits perfectly and prevents maceration. Perfect for the treatment of epidermolysis bullosa and acute wounds.
Mepilex Lite is a highly flexible dressing that absorbs exudate, maintains a moist wound environment and minimises the risk of maceration. The dressing has a unique self-adhesive wound contact layer - Safetac® technology. It minimises pain for the patient and injury to the wound and surrounding skin when the dressing is removed.
Areas of application
Mepilex Lite is suitable for the treatment of a wide range of non-exuding or mildly exuding wounds including leg and foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, superficial burns, radiation skin damage and epidermolysis bullosa. Mepilex Lite can also be used to protect vulnerable and/or sensitive skin.
Properties
- Less pain during dressing changes.
- Soft and conformable design, easy to apply.
- Minimises the risk of maceration.
- Can be easily cut to the desired size and is therefore versatile.
- Proven to minimise or prevent skin reactions caused by radiation treatments.
Dosage form
Silicone foam dressing sterile
Application
Mepilex Lite can also be used by non-professionals under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
- Clean the wound according to clinical standards.
- Dry the skin surrounding the wound thoroughly.
- Select a suitable dressing size. The dressing should overlap the dry, wound-surrounding skin by at least 1-2 cm for smaller wounds (sizes up to 12.5×12.5 cm) and 3-5 cm for larger wounds. If necessary, the dressing can be cut to the appropriate wound shapes and positions.
- Remove the first protective film and place the adhesive side on the wound.
- Remove the remaining protective film and smooth the dressing onto the skin. Do not stretch the dressing too much.
- If necessary, the dressing can be held in place with a bandage or other fixation.
The period before a dressing change can be several days. Change the dressing before it is completely saturated, if there are signs of discharge or according to clinical practice. Mepilex Lite can also be used under compression bandages and together with gels. Disposal should be in accordance with local environmental regulations.
