Granulox®:
- is an innovative medical device for the treatment of chronic wounds, e.g. venous leg ulcers, arterial leg ulcers, mixed venous-arterial leg ulcers, diabetic leg ulcers, secondary healing surgical wounds and pressure ulcers. Can also be applied to exuding and infected wounds.
- The active ingredient, haemoglobin, supplies the wound bed with oxygen from the ambient air through the process of facilitated diffusion. The improved oxygen supply to the wound bed promotes healing.
Granulox® is a haemoglobin spray for the management/treatment of chronic wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, venous ulcers, arterial ulcers and mixed ulcers, and for the secondary healing of surgical wounds and pressure sores 1. It can also be used to treat exudative and infected wounds 2.
Once Granulox has been sprayed onto the wound, the highly purified haemoglobin begins to bind oxygen from the surrounding environment and diffuses through the wound exudate to the wound bed. The supply of oxygen to the wound bed supports wound healing and improves patient outcomes 3.
A practical spray application makes Granulox a portable and easy-to-use addition to standard nursing wound care. For optimal results, Granulox can be applied at each dressing change, but at least every three days.
Studies show that the use of Granulox leads to a shorter duration of wound healing, a reduction in wound pain and savings in treatment costs 3.
