View package leaflet

Mepitel® One is a soft silicone wound contact layer for the treatment of exuding wounds, such as skin tears, abrasions, surgical wounds and burns, or non-exuding wounds, such as blisters or fragile skin.

Mepitel® One is a transparent, perforated, non-absorbent film dressing. The perforated structure of Mepitel One allows exudate to pass through to an absorbent dressing applied over it. This reduces the frequency of dressing changes required in the immediate wound area and allows the outer dressing to be removed with almost no pain or trauma to the wound. Mepitel One can also be used as a stand-alone protective dressing for damaged skin. The dressing features the unique self-adhesive technology of the Safetac® wound contact layer. The wound contact layer minimises pain for the patient as well as trauma to the wound and the surrounding skin when the dressing is removed.

Mepitel One consists of:

  • a soft silicone wound-contact pad (Safetac) on one side and
  • a transparent, flexible, thin and perforated polyurethane film

Indications

  • Mepitel One is a wound contact layer suitable for the management of a wide range of exuding wounds, including skin tears (skin lacerations/flaps), abrasions, surgical wounds, second-degree burns, traumatic wounds, superficial and deep skin graft wounds, radiation-damaged skin, and leg and foot ulcers.
  • It can also be used as a skin protectant on non-exudative wounds, blisters and sensitive areas of skin.

Dosage form
Sterile wound spacer

Usage
Mepitel One can be used by both healthcare professionals and laypeople.

  1. Clean the wound in accordance with medical standards and dry the skin surrounding the wound.
  2. Select a Mepitel One dressing that overlaps the wound and the surrounding skin by at least 2 cm. The dressing can be cut to size if necessary. A larger overlap is required for larger wounds.
  3. Remove the plastic protective film and apply Mepitel One with the adhesive side facing the wound. If you can read the text on the dressing, it has been applied correctly. Gently smooth the dressing down onto the skin around the wound to ensure a good seal. If more than one Mepitel One dressing is required, ensure that the dressings overlap. Ensure that the openings remain clear.
  4. Apply an absorbent cover dressing over Mepitel One and secure the cover dressing in place.

Notes:Try to minimise overlaps and creasing when wrapping or tucking in Mepitel One. This reduces the risk of oedema in the wound area or the limbs.
