Mepilex® Border Post-Op is a self-adhesive, absorbent, flexible post-operative dressing for exuding wounds. It is used for acute wounds such as surgical wounds, cuts and abrasions.
Mepilex Border Post-Op is a flexible, self-adhesive dressing that absorbs exudate and minimises the risk of maceration. The waterproof outer layer protects the wound from dirt and bacteria. The dressing features the unique self-adhesive technology of the Safetac® wound contact layer. The wound contact layer minimises pain for the patient and trauma to the wound and surrounding skin when the dressing is removed.
Mepilex Border Post-Op consists of:
- a transparent outer film that is breathable yet waterproof and provides a barrier against external contamination
- a flexible absorbent pad consisting of two layers a non-woven distribution layer and a layer of highly absorbent fibres
- a wound contact layer made of self-adhesive soft silicone (Safetac) and a carrier film

- Wound dressing size: 4.5 x 19.5 cm
Application
Mepilex Border Post-Op can be used by lay users under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
- Clean the wound and surrounding skin according to clinical practice.
- Dry the surrounding skin thoroughly.
- The Mepilex Border Post-Op Wound Pad should overlap the wound by at least 1 to 2 cm to protect the surrounding skin from maceration and to ensure secure fixation.
- For dressings with three protective films, first remove the centre protective film. Apply the adhesive side to the wound to allow initial fixation of the dressing. For dressings with two protective films, first remove the overlapping part of the protective film on the self-adhesive surface to allow initial fixation of the dressing.
- Avoid creasing by carefully removing the remaining protective film. Start with the longer end. Avoid any overstretching during application.
Mepilex Border Post-Op can remain on the wound for up to 7 days depending on the condition of the wound and surrounding skin and in accordance with recognised clinical practice.
