Product information "Mepiform® silicone dressing 10 x 18 cm"
Mepiform® is a soft, self-adhesive silicone dressing for scar treatment. The dressing can also be used for the preventative treatment of closed wounds to prevent hypertrophic scars or keloids.
Mepiform is a self-adhesive, thin, discreet and flexible dressing. The dressing features a unique self-adhesive contact layer – Safetac® technology. The contact layer minimises pain for the patient and reduces the risk of skin damage when the dressing is removed.
Mepiform consists of:
- a breathable and shower-resistant laminate layer (polyurethane film and viscose non-woven fabric)
- a contact layer made of soft, adhesive silicone (Safetac®)
Indications
Mepiform is intended for the treatment of fresh and old hypertrophic scars and keloids. The dressing can also be used for the preventive treatment of closed wounds to prevent hypertrophic scars or keloids.
Dosage form
Silicone dressing
Use
Mepiform can be used by laypeople under the supervision of healthcare professionals.
Indications
- Open the packaging and remove the dressing.
- If necessary, cut the dressing to the appropriate size. The dressing should overlap the wound by at least 1 cm.
- Before applying Mepiform, ensure that the application area is dry. Ensure that there is sufficient contact area with dry, ointment- and cream-free skin if the dressing is being applied in conjunction with an ointment or cream.
- Remove the protective film and apply Mepiform to the scar. Avoid stretching the dressing when applying it over joints.
Changing and removing the dressing
- Mepiform should ideally be worn 24 hours a day. If necessary, you can remove the dressing once a day to check the scar and wash the skin. The same dressing can then be reused.
- Mepiform should usually be changed every seven days, or when the dressing no longer adheres properly.
- Mepiform is shower-proof. It should be disposed of in accordance with local environmental regulations.
