The essential amino acid L-phenylalanine plays an important role in the body's nitrogen metabolism and must be supplied with food. Phenylalanine is only converted to tyrosine in the liver to synthesise precursors of certain neuronal messenger substances if it is present in sufficient quantities.

- Advice: Not suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Excessive consumption of phenylalanine can have a laxative effect.
