Medistus® Antivirus lozenges are a class IIa ( 0481) medical device with a novel plant-based complex of active ingredients. Lozenges with natural active ingredients and a fresh fruit flavour.

The Kistosyn® 200 extract, with the herbal active ingredients it contains, helps to strengthen the natural barrier function of the mouth and throat mucosa by forming a film. The irritant effects from the outside can be noticeably reduced by the resulting film layer. In addition, the Kistosyn® 200 extract supports the regeneration of the oral mucosa and thus protects it from further inflammation. Due to this physical mode of action, there is no formation of resistance.

What are Medistus® Antivirus Pastilles?

Medistus® Antivirus Pastilles contain Kistosyn® 200extract. Medistus® Antivirus is a medical device. Its efficacy and safety have beentestedin accordance with the European Medical Devices Directive (93/42/EEC).

Main effect of Medistus® Antivirus lozenges

With Medistus® Antivirus lozenges you have purchased a medical device with a plant-based complex of active ingredients. The Kistosyn® 200 extract forms a protective film that covers the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat. This protective barrier leads to a physical (mechanical) defence against viruses and bacteria that cause respiratory disease and thus helps to prevent their penetration into body cells and their multiplication. With their natural active ingredients, Medistus® Antivirus lozenges help to strengthen the natural barrier function of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa. The resulting protective film moisturises the oral and pharyngeal mucosa and protects it from further external influences. Due to this physical mode of action, there is no formation of resistance.

Areas of application

In which cases is Medistus® Antivirus lozenge used?

To physically support the natural barrier function of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa against infectious viruses and bacteria.
For the prevention of infectious and inflammatory respiratory diseases of viral and bacterial origin through physical (mechanical) barrier formation on the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat.

How to use

In case of increased risk of infection and for prevention in case of increased risk of respiratory tract infections of viral and bacterial origin:

Adults: suck 1 lozenge 3 to 6 times daily. 1 lozenge/2 hours.
Children from 12 years of age (and at least 25 kg body weight): Suck 1 lozenge 3 times a day.
Children from 6 years: Suck 1 lozenge once a day.

Advice: Caution should be exercised with children due to the potential risk of choking if they do not have sufficient understanding to suck the pastilles on their own. If medicines are taken, an interval of 2 hours should be observed.
