Lit-Control pH Down capsules are a food for special medical purposes (balanced diet). For dietary management of infectious kidney stones.

- Lowers the pH value of the urine and thus helps to normalise urine that is too alkaline
- Reduces the growth of urease-positive bacteria
- Inhibits the formation of crystals
Lit-Control® pH Down has been specially developed to lower (acidify) the pH of the urine and reduce the formation of kidney stones, which can occur at high pH values (above 6.2). These include, for example, infectious kidney stones (so-called struvite stones, typical companions of urinary tract infections) and calcium phosphate stones.
The pH value of the urine is a measure of the acidity and reflects the nutrition and metabolic activity of the body. Ideally, it should be between 5.5 and 6.2. Fluctuations in the pH value are associated with a higher risk of the formation of various kidney stones.
Some microorganisms (which also cause urinary tract infections) can increase (alkalise) the urinary pH. This creates a favourable environment for their growth. At the same time, it promotes the crystallisation and precipitation of mineral salts (e.g. calcium or magnesium phosphates). This can lead to the formation of infectious kidney stones. Proper pH control can reduce this risk.
Effective components of diet management
Lit-Control® pH Down consists of a combination of 4 different active ingredients: L-methionine, phytate, zinc and vitamin A.
- L-methionine is an essential amino acid that cannot be produced by the body itself. It must therefore be supplied through the diet. Studies have shown that L-methionine lowers the pH value of the urine and thus helps to prevent the formation of kidney stones.
- Phytates (salts of phytic acid) are obtained from rice bran. They inhibit the formation of calcium and magnesium crystals.
- Zinc and vitamin A improve the effect of phytates.
- Zinc increases the binding of phytates to calcium, which means that fewer crystals can form, and vitamin A slows down the breakdown of phytates.
No interactions with other medications have been observed.

Directions for use
- It is recommended to take one capsule at breakfast and one at dinner with a glass of water. The capsules can also be opened, stirred into yoghurt or fruit juice and taken.
- Advice: Dietary management with Lit-Control pH Down should be carried out for at least 3 months and brings the pH value of your urine back into the normal range, inhibits crystal and bacterial growth and protects the cell wall of the kidneys.
Ingredients
- Active ingredients: L-methionine, rice bran extract (Oryza sativa, 85% calcium magnesium phytate/phytin), zinc gluconate, retinyl acetate (vitamin A).
- Other ingredients Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (glazing agent E464), polyvinylpyrrolidone (stabiliser E1201), calcium carbonate (colour E170), starch sodium octenyl succinate (glazing agent E1450), magnesium stearate (stabiliser E470b).
