Personal hygiene does not play a major role in head lice infestation. Head lice multiply regardless of how often the hair is washed. They cannot jump or fly, but crawl from one head to another. Head lice and nits favour warm and dark areas on the scalp. This is why they are usually found behind the ears, along the hairline and on the nape of the neck. Head lice are blood-sucking parasites without wings that feed on human blood. Their bite can lead to an itchy and inflamed scalp. Head lice are not dangerous and do not spread diseases, but they are very annoying and contagious.

The life cycle has three stages: nits, nymphs and adults. Female lice attach their nits with a kind of glue directly above the scalp (max. 1 mm) in the hair. Nymphs need 7 to 10 days to hatch. The development of nymphs into lice takes about 7 days. Female lice can lay up to 10 nits a day.

Licener® is based on the natural neem extract, is insecticide-free and very well tolerated. The extract penetrates the respiratory openings of the lice and nits and suffocates them. Due to this purely physical mode of action, no resistance to Licener® can develop. Licener® is also effective against lice and nits that have become resistant to insecticides. It is advisable to treat head lice immediately after the diagnosis has been made because they are easily transmitted from person to person.

How to use

1. Apply LICENER shampoo to dry hair. Be sure to use a sufficient amount of shampoo to completely cover all hair. It is recommended to use one bottle of LICENER per person (depending on hair length). Massage the LICENER shampoo carefully from the scalp down to the ends of the hair and leave it on for 10 minutes. If several family members are affected by head lice, all should be treated with LICENER on the same day to prevent re-infestation.
2. Rinse the LICENER shampoo thoroughly with lukewarm water. You should avoid getting the shampoo in your eyes as this can cause eye irritation, as with any shampoo. It is not necessary to wash the hair with a normal shampoo after treatment with LICENER. If necessary, you can comb the dried hair with a special nit comb after treatment with LICENER to remove dead lice and nits.

The application of LICENER can be repeated at any time without any problems should there be a renewed infestation of head lice from other infected persons.
