Lansinoh® breast milk bags have been specially developed for the safe and space-saving storage of breast milk in the fridge and freezer. Mums can pump directly into the bag with the Lansinoh® breast pumps, saving time and making it easy to express - so not a single precious drop of breast milk is lost.

Hygienic protection for breast milk

The hard-wearing bags are made of food-safe polyethylene, are pre-sterilised and hygienically sealed. The double zip fastener and sturdy seams protect the breast milk. Thanks to the click closure, you can feel and hear that the bag is securely closed. This means that the bags can be frozen horizontally to save space and defrosted more quickly. Each Lansinoh® breast milk bag can be filled with up to 180 ml of breast milk. The printed scale can be used to determine the filling quantity. The labelling area is located outside the filling zone to prevent accidental holes in the bag caused by sharp pins.

The practical dispenser pack with 25 pre-sterilised bags makes it easy to remove individual breast milk bags.

This is how filling and freezing works:

1. Remove the hygienic safety seal on the top of the bag and open the double zip fastener by carefully pulling it apart. Turn the flaps inside out so that they do not become contaminated. Lansinoh® breast milk bags are pre-sterilised and do not need to be washed out before use.
2. Fill the breast milk bag. Lansinoh® breast milk bags can be attached directly to any Lansinoh® breast pump.
3. Before closing the bag, read off the amount of breast milk filled using the printed scale and enter it in the labelling field provided after closing. The printed scale serves as a guide. In the lower area of the scale, the indicated filling quantity may differ slightly from the filled quantity for production reasons.
4. Before sealing, remove the air from the breast milk bag: To do this, use your middle and index finger like scissors and press the air above the liquid level towards the seal. Close the bag by firmly squeezing the double zip fastener.
5. Lansinoh® breast milk bags are best frozen lying flat. This gives them a larger surface area, allowing them to freeze faster and thaw more gently without the need for heat. Important antibodies and vitamins are thus better preserved.
6. To prevent ice crystals from damaging the breast milk bags, it is advisable to place kitchen paper between two bags or between the bag and the wall of the freezer.

The milk from several expressions can be collected in a breast milk bag within 24 hours. Please store milk that has already been expressed in the refrigerator*.

How long does freshly expressed breast milk keep?

• At room temperature (approx. 21 °C): 6 to 8 hours
• In the refrigerator (approx. 4 °C)*: 3 days
• In the freezer (approx. -17 °C and colder): up to 6 months

How long does defrosted, unheated breast milk keep?

• At room temperature (approx. 21 °C): 3 hours
• In the refrigerator* (approx. 4 °C): unopened 24 hours; opened max. 12 hours

How to defrost and warm breast milk in the Lansinoh® breast milk bag:

• In order to preserve the valuable ingredients of the breast milk, it should be thawed as gently as possible in the refrigerator or at room temperature. In urgent cases, expressed breast milk can also be thawed in a water bath (max. 37 °C).
• Please store thawed milk in the refrigerator until use.* Leftovers from an already warmed breast milk meal must not be fed again; therefore, when filling the bag, care should be taken not to fill it with more than the child is actually drinking. In the rare event that ice crystals have damaged the bag (especially in freezer compartments that cannot freeze), we recommend that you always place the breast milk bag in a clean bowl for defrosting so that any escaping milk can be collected and used.

Caution: Do not use boiling water or a microwave to heat the milk! This destroys valuable ingredients in the milk.

Tip: If the breast milk in the bag forms different layers, simply mix the layers by gently swirling. Thawed milk sometimes changes its flavour. Older breast milk should therefore be used first, it can also be mixed with recently expressed milk.
