Product information "Lactrase® 6000 FCC tablets dispenser"
Lactrase® 6000 FCC tablets
are a dietary supplement that aids the digestion of milk sugar (lactose). The lactase enzyme it contains breaks down lactose into its constituent parts, glucose and galactose.
How does Lactrase® work?
The lactase enzyme contained in Lactrase® breaks down lactose into its easily digestible components, glucose and galactose. The enzyme itself is neither absorbed by the small intestine nor does it have any effect on the body. The action of lactase takes place exclusively in the chyme. Consuming Lactrase® (even in large quantities) is therefore harmless, and there is no risk of adverse effects, even with regular and long-term use. Lactrase® is therefore also suitable for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and children.
Where does the lactase in Lactrase® come from?
The lactase enzyme contained in Lactrase® is produced using the fungus Aspergillus oryzae and is therefore not of animal origin. This fungus has been used for decades in the production of food enzymes.
Where is the lactase released?
After ingestion, the capsule or tablet dissolves in the stomach within a few minutes, releasing the lactase it contains, which is then available to break down the lactose present in the chyme. An enteric coating for the enzyme we use is not necessary because Lactrase® contains what is known as ‘acid-active’ lactase, which is effective in the acidic environment of the stomach.
How should Lactrase® be taken?
You should determine for yourself what dose of Lactrase® is sufficient for you. We recommend starting with two capsules or mini-tablets of Lactrase® 3300, or one capsule or mini-tablet of Lactrase® 6000, for every 5g of lactose in a meal. You can safely increase the number of capsules or mini-tablets according to your personal needs. If you wish to consume a larger amount of lactose – for example, a large glass of milk, a large latte or several scoops of ice cream with cream – or if you are already sensitive to even small amounts of lactose, we recommend using Lactrase® 12000 or Lactrase® 18000. The capsules/tablets should be taken immediately before or with foods or drinks containing lactose. The capsules can also be opened and their contents added to food or drinks heated to a maximum of 50°C. This is particularly suitable for use by children. Simply squeeze the capsule gently whilst pulling the two halves apart.
