Product information "LAVANID® Wound Gel Tube"
LAVANID® Wound Gel is a sterile hydrogel for the effective treatment of acute and chronic wounds. It is characterised by its good tissue compatibility, its moisturising and cleansing effect and its antiseptic properties.
Hydrogel with polyhexanide as a preservative for cleansing and moisturising chronic and acute wounds
LAVANID® - Wound Gel is a sterile hydrogel with 0.04 % polyhexanide, based on Ringer's solution. Polyhexanide (PHMB) is used exclusively as a preservative. The selected composition has proven to be very well tolerated by the tissue in experimental and clinical studies. Chronic wounds are generally covered with avital and necrotic tissue and colonised with germs. For successful wound care, this coating must be removed, for example by surgical debridement. LAVANID® wound gel is used to support this process. LAVANID® wound gel has good flow behaviour, which is an advantage when used in wound cavities or wound pockets.
Advantages
- Good tissue compatibility
- Prevents the formation of new biofilm
- Long-term and painless treatment
- LAVANID® WUNDGEL: Good flow behaviour when used in wound cavities or wound pockets
Areas of application
LAVANID® Wound Gel is suitable for the following applications:
- For moisturising and for preservative dressings and wound dressings
- To reduce the formation of new biofilm
- For poorly healing and sensitive wounds
- For burn wounds
- For autolytic debridement
Tissue compatibility
Chronic wounds often exhibit impaired wound healing. It is therefore all the more important to use a particularly tissue-compatible preparation for wound care. Clinical studies have shown that polyhexanide does not impair the formation of new healthy tissue. In addition, there are no localised irritation symptoms and the application is painless for the patient. Due to the good tissue compatibility of our products, they are suitable for repeated and long-term wound treatment.

Wound gel
Application
First prepare the wound and cleanse it with LAVANID® wound irrigation solution. Then apply LAVANID® Wound Gel / Wound Gel V+ directly to the wound or a wound dressing (e.g. compresses or poultices) and dress as usual. Preservative dressings reduce the risk of germs spreading from the wound to the patient's environment and prevent the entry of germs from outside. For optimum moisturisation of the wound, it is recommended to increase the amount of gel with increasing intervals between dressing changes. If an adhesion to the wound is detected during dressing changes, the dressing should be sufficiently moistened with an irrigation solution (e.g. LAVANID® - Wound Irrigation Solution) before it is removed
