LAVANID® 2 is a sterile, isotonic wound irrigation solution based on Ringer’s solution, containing 0.04% polyhexanide as a preservative. It is suitable for the effective cleansing and decontamination of all types of acute and chronic wounds.
The treatment of choice for chronic wounds, thanks to the addition of polyhexanide as a preservative
LAVANID® 2 are sterile and iso-osmotic wound irrigation solutions based on Ringer’s solution with 0.04% polyhexanide as a preservative. Polyhexanide (PHMB) prevents the growth of microorganisms in wound dressings and in the solution. Furthermore, the surface tension of the solution is reduced so that it can penetrate the tissue more easily and effectively. This surfactant-like effect supports the effective cleansing of the wound.
LAVANID® 2 wound irrigation solutions are also isotonic. The use of an isotonic solution prevents the skin from swelling and reduces irritation of the wound area, as there is no exchange of fluid or electrolytes with the body’s own secretions. This is also a key factor behind the suitability for wound care and the excellent tolerability of LAVANID® 2, as described in the literature¹.

Directions for use
- At each dressing change, a wound should first be cleaned of dirt, blood and debris using a wound irrigation solution. To do this, the affected areas are rinsed with LAVANID® 2 wound irrigation solution. The solution can be applied by unscrewing the bottle and pouring out the solution. Alternatively, aseptic withdrawal via the stopper seal using a spike is possible. A spike is not included in the scope of delivery.
- LAVANID® 2 – Wound Irrigation Solution is colourless, allowing for an unobstructed assessment of the wound condition, which simplifies wound care. Its pain-free application ensures high patient acceptance.

Composition: Ringer’s solution (isotonic electrolyte solution consisting of sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium chloride 2 H₂O, water for injections), macrogol, polyhexanide 0.04 %.
