L-Mesitran® Foam is a sterile, highly absorbent foam dressing for animals that does not stick to the wound. The integrated L-Mesitran Soft Wound Gel creates an ideal moist wound environment, supports autolytic debridement and protects against infection.

L-Mesitran Tulle is a non-adhesive polythene bandage impregnated with the patented L-Mesitran Soft gel, which consists of the following ingredients: 40 % medical honey, hypoallergenic lanolin (Medilan), propylene glycol, PEG 4000 and vitamins C & E.

When the gel comes into contact with the wound, wound fluid is extracted from the surrounding tissue. This creates a moist wound healing climate. This climate stimulates the wound healing process: necrosis and other impurities are dissolved by means of autolysis, the wound bed is prepared and epithelialisation is stimulated.

Properties

  • L-Mesitran Tulle has an antibacterial effect.
  • The gel gradually diminishes and can, if desired, be easily removed according to the applicable wound protocol.
  • L-Mesitran Tulle is a primary wound closure that must be covered with the usual secondary wound dressings.
  • The properties of L-Mesitran Tulle ensure that the secondary dressing does not stick to the wound bed.
  • Due to the use of natural products, each quantity of gel can have a slightly different colour (white, yellow, brown).
  • The gel may contain visible sugar crystals. However, this has no influence on the effect and/or application of the gel.
  • The white polythene dressing allows wound moisture to run to the secondary dressing

Areas of application

  • Superficial wounds, acute wounds (such as cuts and abrasions), donor sites. Burns and laser wounds (1st & 2nd degree). Chronic wounds such as decubitus ulcers or venous, arterial and diabetic ulcers. Oncological wounds (removing odours and dead tissue). Contaminated, acute wounds and (post-operative) surgical wounds.

Application

  1. Check and clean the wound, if necessary, according to the applicable protocol.
  2. Remove the bandage L-Mesitran Tulle from the packaging and cut it to the desired size if necessary.
  3. Remove both protective layers of paper and apply L-Mesitran Tulle to the wound.
  4. Cover L-Mesitran Tulle with a suitable secondary dressing. This depends on the amount of wound moisture.
  5. Inspect the wound and surrounding tissue as often as required by the current wound protocol.
  6. If the patient does not tolerate L-Mesitran Tulle, remove it and clean the area around the wound carefully

  • Frequency of dressing changes: L-Mesitran Tulle may remain on the wound for several days. This depends on the amount of wound moisture. Change the dressing when the gel has disappeared. Where possible, L-Mesitran Tulle can be left in place while the secondary dressing is replaced. If the bandage has become dry, it can be removed more easily with the help of a little moisture.
  • Precautions: Do not use if the packaging is damaged or has been opened previously. Do not use after the expiry date. Consult a doctor if supportive measures for wound treatment are necessary. Inspect and clean the wound in accordance with the applicable regulations. Autolytic debridement may cause the wound to appear larger after the first few dressing changes. This is a normal phenomenon which removes the dead tissue. This prepares the wound bed for wound healing. Consult a doctor if the patient shows signs of infection (fever, pain) or if the condition of the wound worsens. Use L-Mesitran Tulle only once. Destroy the dressing after use as described in the applicable protocol
  • Contraindications: No contraindications are known to date. The dressing should not be used on patients who are sensitive to the dressing or any of its components.
