L-Mesitran® Ointment, a wound ointment containing 48 per cent medicinal honey, promotes natural healing. Ideal for cuts, grazes and burns.

L-Mesitran® Ointment is a hydroactive, antibacterial wound ointment based on medicinal honey (48%), developed for professional and home wound care in humans. Thanks to its natural, sterile ingredients, it combines protection against infection with intensive tissue regeneration.

Indications

• Acute wounds: grazes, cuts, lacerations and laser wounds.
• Burns: Superficial burns (first- and second-degree).
• Chronic wounds: pressure ulcers (decubitus), leg ulcers (ulcus cruris) and diabetic ulcers.
• Post-operative care: Management of surgical wounds.

Directions for use

1. Clean the wound: Rinse the wound thoroughly with a sterile wound irrigation solution or clean water. Gently pat the wound and the surrounding skin dry with a sterile compress. 
2. Apply the ointment: Apply the ointment using a sterile spatula or freshly disinfected fingers. Apply a layer approximately 1 to 2 mm thick directly to the wound or onto the sterile wound dressing.
3. Cover the wound: Cover the wound with a suitable secondary dressing (e.g. sterile compress, foam dressing or adhesive plaster).
4. Changing the dressing: Change the dressing every 24 to 48 hours. The ointment slowly liquefies due to the honey and washes away wound debris, which is why changing the dressing every day or every other day is ideal.
