Promotes the rapid healing of wounds in pets. The L-Mesitran® Border Honey Wound Dressing is hydroactive, antibacterial and easy to apply thanks to the practical adhesive edge. Ideal for dogs, cats and other small animals.

L-Mesitran Border is a hydroactive, honey-containing dressing with an adhesive border for use on acute and chronic wounds. L-Mesitran Border is a sterile semi-permeable dressing containing 30% honey, acrylic polymer gel and water. The gel wound dressing is covered with a thin polyurethane film, with or without a self-adhesive border. L-Mesitran Border are multipurpose wound dressings whose honey-hydrogel layer enables absorption and retention of exudate, creating an optimal, moist wound healing environment. The polyurethane film provides an additional antibacterial barrier, while the self-adhesive edge of L-Mesitran Border allows optimal fixation of the dressing so that the patient can take a shower bath without removing the dressing.

Areas of application

  • L-Mesitran Border is indicated for use on chronic wounds such as Pressure ulcers, grade I and II burns, venous, arterial and diabetic ulcers, exulcerating/malignant wounds. They are also suitable for the treatment of acute wounds such as abrasions, cuts, donor sites (graft donor sites), post-operative and other traumatic wounds.

Application

  1. Check and - if necessary - clean the wound according to local guidelines.
  2. Select a dressing of the correct size, ensuring that the gel pad completely covers the wound and extends to the healthy skin (overlap approximately 1cm).
  3. Remove the sterile dressing from the packaging.
  4. First remove one half of the white plastic protective film.
  5. Place the dressing with the adhesive side lightly on the wound and remove the second half of the protective film.
  6. Now remove the top layer of paper from the dressing and ensure that the dressing adheres well to the skin. Ensure that the adhesive edge of L-Mesitran Border does not come into contact with the wound surface and is properly secured.
  7. Ensure that L-Mesitran Hydro is properly placed and secured with a suitable secondary dressing.
  8. Check the wound and surrounding tissue regularly according to local guidelines.
  9. In case of intolerance to the dressing or any of its components, remove the dressing using appropriate techniques and clean the area carefully.

  • Dressing changes: L-Mesitran Hydro and Border can be left on the wound for up to 5 days. The duration depends on the amount of wound fluid produced, which is different for each wound. Replace the dressing before it is saturated with exudate or if it has become inoperable due to perforation, partial detachment or leakage of exudate. Complete and gentle removal of the dressing can be facilitated by moistening it. Each dressing is intended for single use. Do not use after the expiry date on the pack.
  • Precautions: The dressing can be used on contaminated and colonised wounds. For clinically infected wounds, use only under medical supervision. Any further treatment of infection should be initiated according to local protocols and under medical guidance. L-Mesitran Hydro does not contain an adhesive edge, is therefore not waterproof and is not suitable for shower baths. For this purpose, the use of L-Mesitran Border is recommended. The bacterial barrier function of the polyurethane film may be lost if the film is damaged, if the dressing is not fully applied to the skin or if exudate leaks from under the edges. When removing the dressing, care must be taken to avoid skin damage caused by adhering adhesives, especially in the case of repeated application. Do not use if the packaging is damaged or impaired in any way.
  • Contraindications: Do not use on persons with a known hypersensitivity to the dressing or any of its components. L-Mesitran Hydro and Border should not be used on: - Very heavily exuding wounds - Third degree burns - Deep, narrow wounds or sinuses
