- Citrus bioflavonoids: is a collective term for various flavonoids found in citrus fruits, mainly in their peel. These secondary plant substances contribute to the colour, smell and taste of citrus fruits. Together with the vitamin C contained in citrus fruits, these antioxidant substances help to protect our body cells from oxidative stress. Voluntastrols contains citrus fruit extracts from Citrus reticulata (mandarin), Citrus aurantiifolia (true lime), Citrus sinensis (orange) and Citrus limon (lemon).
- Camomile flower extract: We are all familiar with it: Chamomile with its golden yellow flower heads and white petals. In contrast to other types of chamomile, true chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) has a hollow flower head and a characteristic odour. It belongs to the Asteraceae plant family and flowers from May to September. It is found in almost all of Europe and western Asia. It was already known to our ancestors and has always been used in a variety of ways. Chamomile flowers also contain flavonoids.
- Cocoa bean extract: The cocoa tree (Theobroma cacao) belongs to the genus Theobroma of the mallow family. It is an evergreen undergrowth tree that only thrives under certain climatic conditions in tropical regions. It only bears fruit within 20° north and 20° south latitude. These leathery, woody fruits, which are around 20 cm long and up to 10 cm thick, provide good protection for the seeds (cocoa beans) in their soft interior. Here in Switzerland, the cocoa bean is of course primarily known as a key ingredient in chocolate. However, the indigenous peoples of Central America used it in a variety of ways as a food and luxury food.
