Wild teasel (Dipsacus fullonum L., Dipsacus sylvestrisHUDS.) is a biennial herbaceous plant. In the first year it forms a tuberous root and strong rosettes. It is not until the following year that the cardoon grows to an impressive size of up to 200 cm and produces its inflorescences towards the middle of summer. The individual flowers open in colourful purple rings and allow the cardoon to shine in all its beauty.

On the stem, the leaves, which grow together in opposite directions, form the so-called Venus basin, in which rainwater collects. This basin, which serves as a source of water for thirsty creatures such as birds and insects, is the source of the scientific name for teasel (Greek "dipsa" for thirst).

The non-alcoholic cardoon liquid is made from fresh cardoon roots and made into a strong extract immediately after harvesting. The non-alcoholic cardoon root tincture is shaken regularly and left to mature for at least three months before bottling.

How to use

• Unless otherwise prescribed, take 1 teaspoon 3 times a day. The glycerine tincture has a slightly sweet flavour. It can be mixed well with water, tea (lukewarm), yoghurt or muesli.
• Quantity ratios: 1 teaspoon ≙ approx. 60 drops, 60 drops ≙ approx. 5 ml
