House dust mites live in human homes and colonise clothing, mattresses and upholstered furniture. House dust mites are most frequently found in pillows and mattresses because people excrete a lot of sweat and skin flakes during the night. The mites feed on this. In addition, the humidity and temperature are unfortunately ideal for a good mite habitat. The mites and their faeces are responsible for the widespread house dust allergy. The special extract of geraniol clogs the mites' tracheas so that they suffocate in a very short time.
