Vitamin D3 IBSA is a food supplement with vitamin D.

Vitamin D is only found naturally in certain foods such as eggs, certain fatty fish (anchovies, sardines, mackerel) and dairy products. The average daily requirement of vitamin D is around 1,000 to 2,000 IU (International Units), depending on factors such as age, gender, body weight, pregnancy and menopause. However, only 20-25% (i.e. a maximum of 300 IU) of this requirement is covered by diet alone.

In contrast, the main source of vitamin D is UVB-mediated synthesis in the skin, which occurs when we are exposed to sunlight; however, sun exposure should provide at least 600-800 IU/day.

Clinical and epidemiological studies have shown that the daily intake from food and sunlight is not yet sufficient to ensure adequate levels of vitamin D in the body for the majority of the population. Vitamin D is involved in several processes in the human body. Vitamin D contributes to normal absorption/utilisation of calcium and phosphorus, to normal blood calcium levels and to the maintenance of normal bones, which may be important in people who are particularly vulnerable in this respect, such as menopausal women who often suffer from osteoporosis, an age-related disease in which bone fragility increases.

Vitamin D3 is also known to contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system, so it is important to maintain normal levels of this vitamin in the body by paying attention to the different stages of life when a deficiency can occur.

Vitamin D deficiency is not only due to physiological conditions, but can also be related to habits or life circumstances. People who have to live in seclusion and cannot spend long periods outdoors and exposed to sunlight - such as older people - are unable to synthesise vitamin D and may have low vitamin D levels.

Directions for use

• 1 enamel film per day for at least 30 days, unless otherwise recommended by your doctor. Remove the melting film from the packaging, place on the tongue and allow to dissolve slowly.
• Advice: Do not touch the melting film with wet hands. The expiry date refers to the product that has been properly stored in intact packaging. Store in a cool and dry place. Avoid heat, light and temperature fluctuations. Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced and varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake.
