Discover Hydrocoll® thin, the thin, self-adhesive hydrocolloid dressing for moist wound treatment. It actively promotes granulation and epithelialisation in weakly exuding wounds and provides reliable protection against germs and water
Hydrocoll is a sterile, self-adhesive wound dressing consisting of a hydrocolloid adhesive layer with a top layer of polyurethane film. The side facing the wound is protected by release liners made of silicone paper and/or PET film. The primary packaging consists of a peel pack in a film-film composite. Hydrocoll is a medical device without active ingredients. It contains no medicinal products, no tissue or cell material of human or animal origin and no nanomaterials. The product is radiation sterilised.
Properties and mode of action
The product absorbs wound exudate. After the exudate has been absorbed, the hydrocolloid layer is converted into gel. This creates a moist wound environment that favours wound healing. The polyurethane film prevents the penetration of germs. The film is water-repellent and permeable to water vapour and gas. As the gel only forms during application, the dressing does not stick to the wound and the healing process is not impaired by dressing changes. Thanks to its thin, flexible material, Hydrocoll adapts easily to the contours of the body. The surface of Hydrocoll is dirt and water repellent.
Intended use
Hydrocoll is a sterile, single-use wound dressing that can be used by healthcare professionals for the treatment of wounds with moderate to light exudate formation, e.g. chronic wounds (e.g. chronic wounds). For example, for chronic wounds (leg ulcers, pressure sores, etc.) or burns up to grade 2. In total, the product can be used for longer than 30 days.
Hydrocoll thin is intended for the treatment of slightly exuding wounds.
Hydrocoll is suitable for the treatment of human skin by professional users.

How to use
- Select Hydrocoll in the correct size and shape. To ensure a secure fit, the dressing should extend at least one centimetre beyond the edges of the wound. If necessary, use sterile scissors to cut the dressing according to the size of the wound.
- Hydrocoll / Hydrocoll thin: Remove the protective paper from the backing, position Hydrocoll on the wound, push the edges into place and press on.
- Exudate absorption causes a whitish gel to form, which is visible on the upper side as discolouration and blistering. Hydrocoll should be changed when the blister has spread almost to the edge of the dressing. If exudate leaks from the dressing, it must be changed immediately. To change the dressing, gently loosen Hydrocoll at the edges and carefully peel off the entire dressing.
- A layer of hydrocolloid gel may remain on the wound. This does not impair wound healing and can be washed off if necessary.
- The duration of the dressing depends on the condition of the wound and the amount of exudate. Depending on this, the dressing can remain on the wound for up to 7 days.
- Contraindications: Hydrocoll should not be used if there is a hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. Hydrocoll must not be applied to wounds affecting muscle, tendon or bone tissue. The product must not be applied if there is a clinical infection, nor to 3rd degree burns.
- Product disposal: To minimise the risk of potential infection hazards or environmental contamination, disposable components of the medical device should be disposed of in accordance with applicable local laws, rules and regulations and infection prevention standards.
- Special Precautions: No data is available to support the use of the dressing in sensitive patient populations such as infants, children, pregnant or lactating women, nor is there any data to contradict this. The dressing should therefore only be used with caution and on the recommendation of a physician in these patient populations. Reuse of a medical device intended for single use is dangerous.
