Grassolind® are active-ingredient-free ointment dressings made from loose-weave, air- and exudate-permeable cotton fabric, impregnated with a neutral ointment base which, thanks to its generous application, is not washed away even in cases of heavy exudation; they are easy to cut to size.

Properties and mode of action

The wide-mesh tulle allows exudate to pass unhindered into the absorbent secondary wound dressing, thereby preventing maceration. The ointment base keeps the wound edges supple, promotes the formation of granulation tissue and epithelialisation, and prevents the dressing from sticking to the wound. Dressing changes are painless and do not irritate any existing granulation tissue or young epithelium.

Intended use

Grassolind neutral are sterile, active-ingredient-free ointment dressings for single use in wound treatment and to keep wound surfaces and edges supple, particularly in the case of superficial, exudative wounds (such as extensive grazes or lacerations, as well as burns or scalds, in plastic and cosmetic surgery, for nail extractions, phimosis operations etc.), for covering the donor site in skin grafts and for securing split-thickness skin grafts; also ideal in dermatology and for patients with skin sensitivity or sensitivity to medication.

Thanks to the neutral properties of the active-ingredient-free ointment base, Grassolind neutral is particularly well-suited for use in dermatology, as well as for patients with sensitive skin and those who are sensitive to certain medicinal substances.

Grassolind neutral ointment dressings serve as primary wound coverings and are used in combination with a secondary, absorbent wound dressing. Grassolind neutral is suitable for the treatment of human skin by professional practitioners.

Directions for use

Remove the ointment dressing from the sterile peel pack; do not remove the two protective liners. If necessary, trim the dressing to the size of the wound using sterile scissors. After removing one of the protective liners, place the corresponding side onto the wound; then remove the remaining protective liner. To absorb wound exudate, it is recommended to secure a sterile, absorbent wound dressing over the ointment compress. Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, Grassolind neutral should be replaced at each dressing change; the duration for which the compress is worn depends on the condition of the wound and the amount of exudate.

Ingredients

Loose-weave cotton gauze, impregnated with an anhydrous ointment composition consisting of: Vaselinum album, diglyceride esters of mono- and dicarboxylic fatty acids, micro-paraffin.
