The Geratherm® oxy one finger pulse oximeter provides a quick and accurate measurement of oxygen saturation (SpO2) and pulse rate in just 8 seconds. Thanks to modern sensor technology and an intelligent algorithm, it delivers reliable results at the touch of a button – simple, painless and without the need for a blood sample.

The high-contrast display shows the readings clearly, and an audible alarm sounds if oxygen saturation falls below 94%.

Using the Geratherm® oxy one is very simple. Place your finger in the centre of the sensor in the designated chamber, with your fingernail facing upwards. The device emits red and infrared light through your finger, and the sensor on the opposite side measures how much light passes through to calculate the oxygen saturation level. Oxygen-rich blood absorbs more infrared light than oxygen-poor blood, meaning that less light passing through indicates a higher oxygen saturation level. A smart algorithm minimises interference from tissue, ensuring you receive reliable results.

Monitoring oxygen saturation and pulse rate is important for people with pre-existing conditions, particularly those with respiratory conditions such as asthma or COPD, or during and after Covid infections. As oxygen deficiency is often only recognised at a late stage through visible symptoms such as a bluish discolouration of the mucous membranes, the Geratherm® oxy one aids early detection, enabling you to respond in good time.

Pulse oximeters can also be useful for athletes, particularly in high-altitude or endurance sports. At high altitudes, it is important to monitor your own oxygen saturation, as there is less oxygen in the air. Altitude sickness is caused by reduced oxygen saturation at high altitudes and is usually diagnosed solely on the basis of symptoms. Symptoms may include headaches, tiredness, loss of appetite, irritability, shortness of breath or confusion. A very severe oxygen deficit can lead to serious damage to the brain or heart.
