Gaspan 90 mg/50 mg enteric-coated soft capsules are a herbal medicine used to treat gastrointestinal complaints, particularly mild cramps, flatulence, bloating and abdominal pain.

Two-thirds of the Austrian population frequently experience digestive problems. The causes can range from psychological to physical issues. With its unique combination of caraway and peppermint oil, Gaspan® provides effective relief from flatulence, bloating and abdominal pain.

High-dose herbal active ingredients

Caraway and peppermint have long been popular spices and medicinal plants for treating gastrointestinal conditions. In the case of caraway, the essential oil is extracted from the caraway fruit, whilst in peppermint, the aromatic compounds are found in the leaves.

Gaspan® capsules combine both of these high-dose essential oils, which complement each other’s effects:

Caraway oil relieves bloating and inhibits gas formation in the gut
Peppermint oil has antispasmodic and pain-relieving properties.

Gaspan® can therefore be used specifically to treat digestive problems such as flatulence, bloating and abdominal pain.

Note: The amount of caraway and peppermint oil in a daily dose of 2 Gaspan® capsules is equivalent to approximately 11 litres of tea or 73 cups.

Gaspan® acts directly in the gut

Thanks to the enteric-coated soft capsules, the high-dose active ingredients in Gaspan® are gently transported to the gut, where they take effect.
A herbal medicine for the treatment of gastrointestinal complaints, particularly mild cramps, flatulence, bloating and abdominal pain.
Gaspan is suitable for adults and young people aged 12 and over.

Directions for use

Adolescents aged 12 years and over, adults and elderly patients: One enteric-coated capsule twice daily.
Patients with impaired renal and/or hepatic function: No data are available regarding dosage instructions for patients with impaired renal or hepatic function.

Method of administration

For oral use.
The capsules should be swallowed whole with plenty of liquid (e.g. 1 glass of water), preferably in the morning and at lunchtime, at least 30 minutes before the next meal.
The capsules may also be taken without a meal following administration.
The capsules must be swallowed whole. They must not be chewed, crushed or broken before swallowing, to prevent the active ingredient from being released prematurely.

Duration of treatment

The enteric-coated capsules should be taken until the symptoms have subsided, usually within two to four weeks. If the symptoms persist or worsen after 2 weeks, you must consult a doctor. If symptoms persist, treatment with enteric-coated capsules may be continued for up to 3 months per course of treatment.

Ingredients

90 mg Mentha x piperita L., aetheroleum (peppermint oil) and 50 mg Carum carvi L., aetheroleum (caraway oil).
The other ingredients are: succinylated gelatine, glycerol 85%, polysorbate 80, propylene glycol, glycerol monostearate 40–55, methacrylic acid–ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1) dispersion 30%, medium-chain triglycerides, sodium dodecyl sulphate, sorbitol solution (non-crystallising), titanium dioxide (E 171), yellow iron oxide (E 172), Patent Blue V (E 131), quinoline yellow (E 104).
