Gall Pharma Zeaxanthin Capsules are a food supplement containing 6 mg zeaxanthin, the carotenoid. Zeaxanthin can reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), protects against free radicals and supports visual acuity.

Zeaxanthin is a yellow natural colouring agent and belongs to the carotenoid group. It is mainly found in maize and spinach. It is found in high concentrations in the human organism together with lutein in the retina - enriched in the macula lutea (yellow spot) - of the eyes. These carotenoids presumably absorb high-energy wavelengths of light and protect the sensitive structures of the eye from free radicals.

This carotenoid is beneficial for maintaining the health of the eye and plays a protective role. Presumably due to the filtering effect of light, zeaxanthin prevents the formation of free radicals. Free radicals damage the sensitive cells of the eye and thus play a major role in the development of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Food or supplements rich in zeaxanthin can increase the level of this carotenoid in the eye and thus protect the eye from damaging influences. As zeaxanthin cannot be produced by the body itself, the daily diet should be supplemented with zeaxanthin.
