Gall Pharma Taurine Powder is a dietary supplement containing 1000 mg of taurine per daily dose. The amino acid taurine protects against free radicals, supports bile function and fat metabolism, and may help prevent age-related changes in the eyes.

Molecular structure. Due to its simple structure, it has no L- or D-form. This amino acid does not contribute to protein formation and therefore does not form part of the structural composition of proteins. In the body, it occurs as a free molecule, particularly in brain tissue, the central nervous system, and cardiac and skeletal muscle. Taurine is present in all the body’s cell membranes.

Taurine contains sulphur, as do L-methionine, L-cysteine, L-cystine and the body’s own antioxidant, L-glutathione. Taurine has several biochemical functions.

This amino acid is involved in the transport of ions – sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and many others – across the cell membrane and other membranes. It is therefore of vital importance for the brain, the heart, the eyes, the circulatory system and other organs and bodily functions.

Taurine also has the important function of binding bile salts. Bile salts are a key end product of cholesterol metabolism. Following oxidative conversion, the bile acids are bound to taurine or glycine. This amino acid thus helps to prevent the formation of gallstones.
