Gall Pharma Opuntia prickly pear capsules are a food supplement with 200 mg cactus flower powder, 50 mg cactus fruit powder and 6 mg pure vitamin E per capsule. Prevents enlargement of the prostate in old age and regulates the urge to urinate.
The flowers and fruits of the prickly pear cactus are rich in beta-sitosterol. This is a nutrient that can maintain the function of the bladder and prostate. The inhibition of the enzyme α-reductase can help to ensure that the bladder muscles remain functional. At the same time, beta-sitosterol can prevent age-related enlargement of the prostate in men.
As a component of the group of phytosterols, beta-sitosterol, which is very similar in structure to cholesterol, can have a positive effect on human health. Phytosterols can lower high cholesterol levels by binding cholesterol and competing with it for absorption in the body. The vitamin E contained in Opuntia GPH capsules also has a positive effect on the prostate, as it acts as an important scavenger of harmful free radicals.
- The prickly pear (Opuntia ficus-indica) is a plant of the Opuntia genus (Opuntia) originally from Mexico. The edible fruits, known as prickly pears, grow to a size of 10 cm. They change colour from greenish to reddish-brown depending on how ripe they are. The prickly pears are juicy, quench the thirst perfectly and taste slightly sour, but have a flowery flavour. By chance, it was observed in Mexico that women who regularly consumed the fresh cactus flowers or fruits had to go to the toilet less often at night. Moreover, this phenomenon only ever occurred when the prickly pears were in bloom or at harvest time. For the Indians, they are an insider tip for bladder and prostate health and are therefore part of their daily diet. It is now known that prickly pears contain many vitamins (e.g. vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B3 and vitamin C), minerals and trace elements as well as the substance beta-sitosterol.
