Gall Pharma Heart-Fit Capsules are a dietary supplement containing 120 mg hawthorn leaves and flowers extract and 265 mg olive leaf extract. To support and strengthen the cardiovascular function and for normal blood pressure.
Hawthorn was first mentioned as a remedy in European culture in the first century AD. It is also a component of traditional Chinese medicine. Its ingredients are oligomeric procyanidins and flavonoids, which are found particularly in the flowers. The main components are hyperoside and rutoside, as well as glycosylflavones. Other ingredients are neutral polysaccharides, triterpenes, small amounts of biogenic amines, sterols, aminopurines and phenolcarboxylic acids. The interaction of these ingredients leads on the one hand to increased cardiac output and on the other hand hawthorn dilates the blood vessels, especially the coronary arteries, and thus improves the oxygen supply to the heart muscle.
The comparatively low incidence of cardiovascular disease in Mediterranean countries compared to other countries is due not only to the consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables but also to the high consumption of olive oil as the main source of fat. The polyphenols contained in the oil and the leaves have been shown to have antioxidant properties on various occasions. Olive leaves have been shown to have antihypertensive, hypoglycaemic and diuretic properties.
