Garcinia cambogia is the dried and pulverised components of the curry pumpkin. The fruit skin of the so-called Indian pumpkin can be eaten directly (has a sour flavour) or dried and used as an ingredient in curry mixtures. In South East Asia, the fruit has been used for centuries in the diet as well as for medicinal purposes.
This endogenous, vitamin-like substance has the following functions:
