Gall Pharma Cranberry-Horseradish Capsules are a dietary supplement made from horseradish extract and cranberry concentrate. The combination supports the health of the urinary tract and bladder and can prevent bladder infections.

The health-promoting properties of cranberries are due to the anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins they contain. These secondary plant substances have been proven to prevent the adhesion of pathogenic germs to the mucous membranes of the urinary tract and bladder. This is achieved by inhibiting the expression of fimbriae in the bacteria and blocking their docking sites. This makes it easier for the pathogens to be flushed out and prevents them from triggering an inflammatory reaction. Cranberries have therefore proven their worth for years in the treatment of both acute and recurrent urinary tract infections. The red fruits are also a good source of minerals and trace elements.

In its unprocessed state, horseradish is odourless. When the root is cut or grated, a pungent odour is released, for which allyl thiocyanate is responsible. Allyl thiocyanate is formed enzymatically from the mustard oil glycoside sinigrin when cells are damaged. Mustard oil glycosides, also known as glucosinolates, protect the plant as a defence against animal damage, but mustard oils are also said to have antimicrobial properties. Horseradish can strengthen the body's defences and help to keep the respiratory system healthy. This property can be utilised for colds, especially in the respiratory tract. The mustard oils contained in horseradish can help with problems of the urinary tract, as they act in a similar way to the antibacterial properties of cranberries. Traditionally, horseradish is also used as a digestive aid.
