Gall Pharma Aloe Vera 400 mg capsules are a food supplement and contain the powder of real aloe, which is made from the aloin-free gel of the leaves. Aloe vera is a plant with a long tradition as a remedy.

The tropical plant aloe vera is also known as the desert lily. As a herbal preparation, aloe vera has a long tradition: the ancient Greeks have known about its positive benefits since at least the fourth century BC. Cleopatra used it as a skin care product and the Romans and Incas also used aloe vera as a defence against insects and to promote wound regeneration. The plant harbours its valuable ingredients in a gel that is embedded inside the leaf. In addition to water and numerous vitamins, enzymes, minerals, amino acids and essential oils, this leaf pulp also contains the ingredient aloverose, also known as acemannan. This long-chain mucopolysaccharide strengthens the body's defences and has natural germicidal properties. The higher the acemannan content of the plant, the higher the quality of the product. Due to its considerable water content and the heterosaccharides dissolved in it, the plant develops a high viscosity. This is why the desert lily is said to have moisturising properties.
