The acai berry is the black and purple fruit of the cabbage palm (Euterpe oleracea), which is native to the South American Amazon region. It is characterised by a variety of positive properties, which is why it is also known as the "superfruit". The antioxidant substances it contains protect the body's cells from free radicals, which are excessively produced by stress, alcohol consumption, illness or UV radiation. Due to their rich fibre content, the berries are not only used to aid digestion. The fibre also has the advantage that it swells in the stomach and thus increases the feeling of satiety.
