Tagetes is a genus of plants from the Asteraceae family. The plant has a high lutein content. Lutein plays an important role for our eyes. It protects the eye from damage caused by sunlight and ensures sharp vision in the macula. Lutein absorbs blue light before it reaches the visual cells. This reduces the formation of free radicals that damage the retina. It can therefore reduce the risk of age-related eye diseases.
