According to folk tradition, hawkweed is said to improve eyesight – it is claimed that hawks owe their exceptional eyesight to this herb. It is also said to have astringent properties. Hawkweed is mainly used as a mouthwash or gargle for the mouth and throat. It can also be used to help with diarrhoea and gastrointestinal problems.
